The Hurricane Katrina tragedy once again shows the strength, compassion, and toughness of the greatest nation in the world. Through all the hardships American people, companies, institutions, and governments are all working hard to solve the short term and long term needs of the Hurricane Katrina disaster victims.

Walmart the largest retail chain in the world has donated 15 Million Dollars to the relief effort. The Walton family has donated an additional 8 Million dollars. In addition Walmart has said that any Walmart employee who is out of work because of the disaster just needs to report to the nearest Walmart store after they resettle and they will have a Job.

Harrah's a large casino gaming company with casino's in New Orleans and Mississippi has announced all employees will be paid for up to 90 days. Colleges all over the country have agreed to admit students from the gulf area so they don't have to miss a semester or more of classes.

Many Cities across the country have stepped up and agreed to take some of the evacuees and provide them with food and shelter. Companies in these cities are offering jobs to the Hurricane Katrina Disaster victims.

Grade school children are adopting families and selling lemonade and cookies to raise money. Seniors with little resources are using donated wool to make blankets and sweaters and ponchos for the victims. People are lining up to donate blood, man phone lines and collection centers. Music concerts are being organized to raise money.

Even the international community is getting involved with assistance being offered by over 60 countries.

America you will not only get through this tragedy but you will emerge bigger stronger and prouder then before. New Orleans and the other great southern cities effected by this will never be the same but I know in my heart given time to heal and repair they will be even Better then before.
